Homer

We made it to Homer after a long travel day.  However the views kept us entertained.  We began trip under light rain and angry looking skies

However, by the time we drove through Anchorage, it turned into a beautiful day

Above is beginning of the Kenai Peninsula highway and Cook Inlet on our right.

Another view with the highway seen on the left just over the water

Low tide - notice how far back water recedes…

                  Couple of glaciers seen above

Another reason we pushed beyond our self imposed travel times/distance was the fact I had reserved a seat on a Halibut fishing charter the next day.  Having to awaken at 5am after a long driving day I knew I was going to pay the price.

Well, at the end of the day it had paid off.  I was lucky enough to get 2 Halibuts.  Pictured here is the smaller of the two.  I had to rush to take picture since boat staff began to fillet them while returning to port.

Homer Spit; a sandbar extending into the ocean.  Fishing vessels leave from here for fishing and wildlife viewing.  A beautiful place with mountains in the background with several glaciers

Homer Spit in the Kachemak Bay an arm of the Cook Inlet

                    Road into the Homer Spit

Low Tide again today during bicycle ride into the Spit

                        Bike Path

                            Marina

Return trip to town.  Mountains in background

        Until next time…
